3 Day Kakadu/Litchfield

Get picked up from Darwin bright and early (6:30-7:00 AM) as you meet your guide and vehicle for the trip. Begin the trip with a morning dive (figurative) into one the NT's top croc and wildlife hotspots at Corrobboree Billabong on the Mary River as you take a cruise with a local guide and wildlife expert. After a picnic lunch on the East Alligator take a look at Cahills Crossing before you embark on a short but rewarding 2km walk to look out upon the Arnhem Land Floodplains and pass through the extensive and ancient rock art sights of Ubir.

A big day ahead of us with our first stop at Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). After a 40-minute walk along a creek bed, you’ll be rewarded with a swim in a stunning plunge pool surrounded by steep rocky cliffs. We then let our 4WD truck do all the work as we drive to the Southern end of the park to Gunlom Falls – a large emerald-coloured waterhole hidden by the surrounding eucalypt and melaleuca trees.  

We finish the day with a swim at Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole) which requires permits and limited access to others, but unlimited access to Territory Expeditions passengers! 

It’s then a three-hour drive as we head to our camp at the border of Litchfield National Park. 

Sleep in your bathers Thursday night because its going to be a lush day of swimming ahead in Lichfield National Park. We begin the morning with a dip in the relaxing pools of Buley Rockhole after a quick look at the Magnetic Termites. Only 5 minutes down the road we stop for our second swim of the day at Florence Falls. Topping off this tranquil morning with a swim and some lunch at the majestic Wangi Falls before heading back into Darwin.
