5 Day Kakadu

Straight into the good stuff, we start our Kakadu tour by heading towards the world heritage-listed Kakadu National Park. The day wouldn’t be complete without a stopover at the iconic Australiana Bark Hut for quick refreshment!

Pause and relish the scenic beauty along the tidal East Alligator River with the opportunity to spot some crocs and flying foxes!

Next up, we’ll venture to the renowned Ubirr located in the northern part of the park. This iconic site boasts some of the finest examples of rock art from Northern Australia. Your guide will provide insights into the art’s significance and the stories behind these unique paintings. A challenging climb to the summit reveals breathtaking 360º views that stretch across the Nardab floodplains and into the captivating landscapes of Arnhem Land.

Tonight, we camp at our exclusive safari camp at Mardukal Billabong in the heart of Kakadu. Enjoy sitting around an open campfire, savoring a cool beverage, or a toasted marshmallow.

After breakfast we embark on an exciting 4 Wheel drive journey to reach Jim Jim Falls. A leisurely 1 km walk through the gorge, enveloped by towering 200m high sandstone cliffs, unveils a refreshing plunge pool. Here, you can indulge in a well-deserved swim or opt to unwind on the beach, all while soaking in the awe-inspiring and breathtaking views.

For those looking to imerse themselvelves in the culture, the Warradjan cultural centre is a great opportunity to gain some insight into the traditional owners of Kakadu through interactive displays and demonstrations.

As the day winds down, we’re in for a treat with a 2-hour Sunset Cruise on the renowned Yellow Waters. Prepare to be captivated by the abundance of wildlife, from a variety of bird species to crocodiles in their natural habitat. After this mesmerizing experience, we’ll head back to our cozy safari camp at Mardukal Billabong.

Following a hearty breakfast, our journey takes us to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). A scenic 1 km hike through a paperbark forest, accompanied by some rock scrambling, leads us to the inviting plunge pool. Immerse yourself in a refreshing swim in this pristine environment, where the waters team with black bream and barramundi – a truly unique experience. We then make our way to our private camp in Jawoyn Country located in the Southern End of Kakadu.

Day 4 we spend the whole day exploring the magnificent Jarrangbarnmi (Koolpin Gorge), this is a special permit access area that is recognised for its cultural and environmental sensitivity.
This remote location is restricted to only 40 people per day and is home to several endemic species of fauna and fauna.

This incredibly unique experience should be treated with respect as most operators are not able to run regular tours in this area. The walk up the gorge requires a good level of fitness with great rewards on arrival to some of the National Parks most spectacular rock pools, waterfalls and rock landscape.

We then make our way to our private camp in Jawoyn Country located in the Southern End of Kakadu.

Just when you thaught it was over the adventure continues as we begin the morning by visiting one of the first cattle stations occupied by the early pastoralists of the Kakadu region, Old Goodparla Homestead. Giving an insight into the early european history in the area.

We will then cool off with one last refreshing swim at Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole), a special permit area that is spring fed and flows all year round. Then to top it off we will drive back to Darwin via the historical town of Pine Creek.
